Information Developer

Recognised as the Global Leader in its field, i2's software solutions are used by more than 200 law enforcement, national security, military and major commercial organisations in 130 countries across the world.
The Product Engineering department is responsible for developing software products.
The main functions of the department in this respect are: -

·  Functional definition
·  Implementation and testing
·  Documentation
·  Providing means of product deployment (installation)
·  Providing means of product localisation

Main duties and responsibilities

The Information Developer will write technical documentation as a member of agile software development teams. We expect team members to contribute to all parts of the software development process, and to take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality software.

IBM Cambridge builds state-of-the-art solutions for a quickly evolving market. Our Information Developers must learn new skills while they apply best practices to the creation of user assistance, administrative guides, and software development kits. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a team of talented individuals striving to deliver the right solutions on challenging timescales.
This is a Cambridge based role.

Skills required to perform the role you must be able to:

·  Liaise effectively with developers, testers, product managers, and other writers.
·  Cooperate and work effectively with subject matter experts to gather information.
·  Challenge decisions and put your point of view eloquently
·  Act as an advocate for the user by making suggestions to improve software.
·  Test and review the usability of products as software evolves
·  Review and propose improvements to both UI strings and public APIs
·  Understand new concepts in software and programming languages quickly.
·  Extrapolate documentation requirements from specifications and emerging software.
·  Create software documentation aimed at audiences from end users to developers.
·  Demonstrate a practical knowledge and understanding of writing clear and concise prose.

Skills useful in performing the role

·  Experience of working as part of an agile development team.
