We are currently looking for a Supervisor to join our organization in a role supporting our Contract Logistics division. This position is based in Brampton, Ontario.

Supervisor, Warehouse

Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor is fully responsible for the safe, high-quality, and productive delivery of 3PL logistics services to our internal and external customers. Main responsibilities for this role include the following and are related to customer accountabilities, financial accountabilities, and the management of staff.

Main Responsibilities

Maintain customer relationships:

·  Escalate customer issues to Manager quickly when necessary;
·  Assist with planning for new customer implementations;
·  Participate in conference calls and meetings when necessary;
·  Demonstrate tact and diplomacy when communicating directly with customer representatives;

Support Warehouse Manager in adhering to financial obligations:

·  Balancing overtime / agency use;
·  Staff planning to avoid excess overtime expenses;
·  Maintain Time and Attendance system for agency and full time staff (Kronos) on a daily basis following policies and procedures.

Manage staff:

·  Manage performance of all reports;
·  Ensure adequate training of staff;
·  Support and guide growth and development of direct reports;
·  Ensure timely performance evaluations;
·  Deal with performance issues and consult with HR / Management guidance for complex issues;
·  Ensure staff without computer / email access has access to important information (e.g., from HR, Management, etc.)

Warehouse Operations:

·  Follow programs implemented to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility;
·  Oversee all warehouse services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities;
·  Keep teams up to date with daily operational issues, priorities, etc.;
·  Comply with all Health / Safety / Security programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property;
·  Strive for continuous improvements in all facets of warehouse operations;
·  Prepare accurate and timely reports regarding warehouse operations;
·  Work in collaboration with Warehouse Manager

Skills & Experience

We are looking for Warehouse Supervisor candidates who have prior experience with responsibilities listed above, and who meet the following criteria:

·  Excellent understanding of warehouse operations and cost structures;
·  Strong customer orientation and problem solving skills;
·  Successful track record in leadership and supervising the work of subordinates;
·  Proven proficiency in an automated warehouse environment, working knowledge of WMS technologies and Warehouse Distribution environment.
·  Degree/Diploma in International Business, Transportation, Logistics, Customs or a related field preferred;
·  Certification(s) in applicable material handling equipment preferred;
·  3-7+ years experience in Contract Logistics / 3PL / Distribution Centre / Warehousing environment required;
·  2-3+ years managerial / supervisory experience with 10-15+ direct reports required;
·  Managerial / direct experience with distribution centre processes required (receiving, picking, packing, shipping, returns, value added processing and sub-assembly);
·  Demonstrated competency with distribution centre equipment, technology and software required;
·  Knowledge of all applicable health and safety and employment standards required;
·  Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and company production systems required (document control, 5S, Lean or TPS tools).
