Application Security Engineer/Developer

Position Description
CGI Federal’s Emerging Technologies Practice (ETP) seeks a highly-motivated security engineer/developer to join their Cyber Security team. The candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of security specialists, engineers, project managers, and delivery professionals responsible for supporting various Defense and Civilian contracts.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• This candidate will be primarily responsible for identifying new vulnerabilities in web applications, on the UI and code level, prioritizing them and working with different teams on remediation efforts.
• Perform security testing on web applications, using automated tools and manual techniques.
• Research threats and attack vectors that impact web applications and infrastructure.
• Assess new and existing applications and system deployments for vulnerabilities and design flaws, and prioritize remediation efforts based on risk.
• Evaluate new products and technologies, including potential acquisitions.
• Educate and advocate for security improvement throughout the project life cycle.
• Build testing tools and platforms to encourage reusable and measurable approaches to assessment.
• Prepare, validate, and maintain security documentation including, but not limited to system security plan (SSP), risk assessment (RA), contingency plan (CP), privacy impact assessment (PIA), eAuthentication assessment, and FIPS categorization.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with at least 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in information security.
• Experience and expertise in security management, auditing methodology, and technology risk assessments.
• Experience and detailed technical knowledge in application security and development.
• System development experience in technologies like Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, .Net technologies is highly desired.
• Knowledge of all phases of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and experience working with development teams.
• Experience with System and Application Vulnerability assessment/ Penetration testing.
• Knowledge of secure development principles in at least one environment (i.e. Java or .NET)
• System development experience in technologies like Java, JavaScript, Angular JS, Python, Ruby, .Net technologies is highly desired
• Awareness of security-related best programming practices for J2EE and .NET
• Code review skills are a definite plus
• Ability to document and explain risks and vulnerabilities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
