Data engineer Biochemistry – CDI

The Bayer La Dargoire research center, located in Lyon (FR), is dedicated to identifying new approaches to protect crops against diseases. Favoring multidisciplinary teams of biologists, chemists, biochemists, (eco-)toxicologists and data scientists, our research focuses on cutting-edge technologies .

As a data engineer , you are in charge of the development and implementation of state-of-the-art data science and computational methodologies (statistical analyses, scripts and applications development, databases mining and management) applied to biological sciences. You will also be involved in the development of biochemical and other related experimental approaches to identify and validate molecular targets for the development of the next generation of crop protection products.

More specifically, you will:

·  Rely on your dual expertise in data- and biological-sciences to catalyze cross-functional projects and contribute bridging experimental and computational fields.
·  Allow maximum value extraction from experimental approaches by performing data analyses and ensuring knowledge dissemination / access in our teams. Promote digitalization of our activities.
·  Ensure seamless integration of our equipment with any relevant data analysis pipeline.
·  Participate in / conduct experimental biochemistry studies.

Your Profile :

·  MSc or equivalent in bioinformatics, data science, applied mathematics, biochemistry or related fields with a track record of project completion.
·  Proficiency in standard data-science and bioinformatic tools including python and/or R, Unix-like environment, SQL, git, BLAST. Knowledge in areas such as graph databases, semantic and ontologies, graph theory, cloud computing, application development / javascript, machine learning or statistics are appreciated.
·  Advanced knowledge in biological sciences is a must. Actual hands-on, wet-bench experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or related fields is a strong plus.
·  Eager to explore novel methodologies and to continuously learn and develop yourself.
