Solutions Architecture Manager - Research and Development

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a solutions architects manager with strong software engineering skills and a passion for delivering solutions that accelerate our customers' ability to innovate on our platform. You will be part of a tight knit team of innovative practitioners who are obsessed with understanding the needs of our customers and have the skills to partner with them in experimenting with new ideas that can open up new markets or radically change how they deliver existing products/services. Our goal is to double our customers' inventiveness by doubling the number of experiments they can run (Jeff Bezos).

In this role you will use your software development management skills to show customers the art of the possible in developing prototypes using machine learning, deep learning, IoT and serverless architectures. You will create an environment where high judgement failure is embraced so your team can move fast without compromising on research time that is required to experiment with new ideas.

Roles & Responsibilities
· Hire, mentor and develop solutions architects with a track record of delivering innovative software solutions
· Be a champion of engineering and operational excellence: establish team metrics for measurement of engineering and performance excellence and a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement.
· Establish a consistent, project management framework and excellent development processes to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations
· Show strong business and technical judgment that will accelerate release cycles
· Position requires travel -- generally, between 0 - 25%

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
· A minimum of 3 years of management experience.
· A minimum of 7 years of relevant development and design experience.
· Experience in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable systems.
· Experience with a strengths-based approach to employee management and performance
· Ability to communicate fluently in English and Portuguese (Verbal and Written).
