Location: Donauwörth
Start: March/April 2017
Duration: 6 months

The Final Thesis is conducted within the team Polymers & Composites, which is part of the Laboratories for Materials and Processes (LMP). Activities of the LMP include research and development of new materials and manufacturing processes as well as their testing and qualification. Furthermore, support of running serial production and its improvement is within the scope of the department.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

·  Review of state-of-the-art interior materials including the specific requirements for helicopter applications
·  Research on potential interior material concepts for future helicopter programmes
·  Definition of test matrices and cost evaluation methods
·  Sample manufacturing and conduction of material tests and demonstrators
·  Documentation and scientific assessment

Required skills

·  Enrolled master student within Material Sciences, Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study
·  Theoretical knowledge in composite materials needed
·  Hands on experience in manufacturing processes, testing of composites is a plus
·  Enjoyment of experimental activities
·  English: fluent, negotiation level
·  German skills are beneficial
