Driven by today’s complexity of aircraft cabin systems, requirements engineering based pure on textual documentation is finding its limits. In order to control the complexity within the system engineering process and to provide an early detection of possible design flaws, the method of so called model-based requirements engineering (MBRE) promises remedy. The central thought of MBRE is to produce abstract system models at an early stage within the development process which represents the different aspects of a system comprehensively. The specification of such system models is supported by respective modelling tools which secure to follow the modelling language syntax and the model data consistency. In addition some tools support the semi-automatic software code generation for models execution for simulation purpose.
