Description of the job

A vacancy for a Geo Information Specialist (m/f) for web applications/online GIS has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Friedrichshafen. The successful applicant will join “TS-X Service Segment”.

Tasks & accountabilities

As part of the TS-X-Service Segment Team, you will contribute your experience to further develop and implement Geosolutions in the context of the TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X Missions in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The position is fully dedicated to the design and implementation of web services and web applications to commercialize TerraSAR-X and WorldDEM Data.

·  Iterate and evaluate requirements coming from various internal departments (e.g. Sales, Marketing, IT)
·  Derive system requirements and design technical architectures and solutions to satisfy the requirements
·  Implementation of webservices and web applications
·  Plan and execute system testing and system integration
·  Generate relevant documentation (e.g. Requirements, Specifications, ICDs)
·  Contribute expertise to existing projects where needed
·  System maintenance activities

Required skills

·  University Degree in Computer Science/ (Geo-) Informatics or related field
·  Experience in developing web applications with JavaScript/ HTML5/ Python/ PhP
·  Experience in backend development with NodeJS and Databases
·  Experience with Unix based OS
·  Experience with cloud computing and containerization is an advantage
·  Experience with geo web applications (OpenLayers/ Cesium) and handling/ processing of large geo datasets (e.g. OSM or raster data) is an advantage
·  Experience with Metadata (ISO/ INSPIRE and XML, XSD)
·  Ability to work in a multicultural/ international team language
·  Fluent in spoken and written English and German
