Job description

SALARY: £31,317 plus flexibility allowance and excellent benefits

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Sustain site utilities and energy services and site reporting systems through autonomous and preventative maintenance standards. Support the Service and Environment Leader in driving the USLP vision across site by improving, Energy utilisation whilst monitoring and maintaining all site reporting systems ensuring legal compliance on site against omission and discharge consents.

JOB SUMMARY

The scope of required Site Service Mechanical Technician tasks includes:

· Supporting the USLP vision in reducing waste, energy and water consumption across site in line with site KPI/KAI.
· Maintain and carry out repairs on such things as: steam, air, water, sprinklers, HVAC, drainage, building management and fire alarm systems.
· Ensure site L8 compliance is maintained and repaired in line with the L8 regulations
· Manage, repair and maintain the sites PSSR and CPE equipment.
· Undertake general building and maintenance activities within site infrastructure
· Undertake project and contractor management including budget control, risk assessments and method statements.
· Undertake effluent analysis and discharge control ensuring site compliance
· Responsible for reporting effluent and discharge issues to Site Environmental Lead
· Lead initial investigations for effluent and discharge issues using WCM tools to establish route cause analysis

Safety – Working knowledge of the workplace and the hazards within it. Utilise appropriate safety procedures relating to the Sourcing Unit and allocated equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team. Carry out inspections, diagnosis and basic repairs in order to maintain safety standards. Understand and conduct regular safety audits.

Quality – Understand all relevant Quality procedures, particularly in relation to contractor management and ensure that contractors working on their behalf follow all quality procedures and are capable of taking immediate corrective actions to rectify issues that have a negative impact on quality

Continuous Improvement – Knowledge and understanding of the key principles of WCM and an awareness of the tools used to identify and prioritise losses in the logistics area and eliminate them; role requires data collection. Monitor measures and performance after initial improvements and take further action as required.

Customer service – Understand the impact of downtime in utilities and plan these as far as possible with the Sourcing Units planning departments. They must understand the Site Primary Electrical systems, recognize issues and can take appropriate corrective action, to ensure continuous supply.

Problem solving - The incumbent of the role will need problem solving abilities to enable them to solve technically related issues, the impact to health and safety, complexity into the sourcing units and cost effective solution in line with needs of the business.

Loss and Data - The individual will ensure operational reliability is recorded as appropriate, all down-time is correctly recorded, the loss tree is used to prioritise improvement projects and the biggest losses in the area are identified and addressed.

Production - The role holder is responsible for ensuring systems and utilities are available for production.


KEY REQUIREMENTS

Essential

· NVQ level 3 in Engineering or equivalent.
· Time served Apprentice/Post Apprenticeship level
· Plumbing and mechanical plant engineering knowledge
· Proven experience in a similar role
· Understanding of legal requirements particularly statutory inspections.
· Apply Health and Safety standards to all technical areas
· Good general understanding of site utilities and distribution systems
· Understanding of environmental, L8, PSSR and CPE legislation
· An ability to work autonomously, make decisions and resolve problems/issues
· Microsoft Office experience
· The passion and drive and initiative to support the USLP
· Knowledge of WCM tools and techniques and be able to demonstrate how they have used these to make improvements
· SAP experience is desirable, but training will be given
