At Societe Generale, you will be joining the Finance division of Global Banking & Investors Solutions (GBIS), one of the three pillars of SG that brings together Corporate and Investment Banking activities, Private Banking activities, Asset Management and Investor Services. This division oversees the quality and delivery of financial statements for GBIS, the independent certification of financial data for various activities, and also provides day-to-day explanations on profit and loss for market activities.

Description of the Business Line or Department

The Treasury and ALM (TRE/ALM) department operates within SGIL which offers clearing and execution services to customers. TRE/ALM oversees the management of liquidity, interest rate and currency risks arising from SGIL activity.
It includes:
- Dealing activity in financial instruments to ensure an adequate level of liquidity at all time while maximising revenues;
- Measurement, reporting and the management of the risk of interest rate mismatch and liquidity of SGIL balance-sheet;

SGIL is a classified as a Limited Investment Firm incorporated in the UK and as such, is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

SGIL does not deal with, or for, Retail Clients (as defined by the 2004/39/EC Directive on markets in financial instruments). SGIL is a Swap Dealer registered with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the National Futures Association.
The role gives you the opportunity to gain experience within the dealing room of a brokerage firm, giving you a broad experience in the day-to-day practicalities of managing an Investment Firm's Balance Sheet and its financial risk positions.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Assist the Treasury team with:
·Management of Treasury day-to-day dealing activities;
·Management of day-to-day prudential funding needs for SGIL;
·Treasury/ALM and firm-wide Projects;
·Monitoring Activities (e.g. Interest risk positions, portfolio allocation, First Line of Defence compliance, etc).
Summary of responsibilities
§Produce, develop and/or maintain Treasury Font Office analysis tools (Investment dashboard, Intraday analysis tools, Funding cost dashboard, …);
§Assist the Treasury in their day-to-day activities, involving interaction with various counterparts across the Bank (e.g. Middle Office, Back Office, Business lines, Finance, Risk, Credit, etc);
§Assist the Treasury team in the dealing activities regarding the investment portfolios, the cash management, or the funding of business lines;
§Help on the production and the analysis of the desk P/L;
§Contribute to the production and update of presentations for internal stakeholders and committees as well as the policies and procedures of the desk;
§Help on the management of the firm Interest Rates and FX risks.
§Support the ALM team in the production of Regulatory Stress tests and various projects

Profile

Your profile

Graduate with a Master's degree from Business/Engineering School or University in Finance.
You ideally have a previous experience in a bank or financial institution.

Knowledge of
- FCA and ECB regulatory framework applicable to liquidity and the firm's underlying business
- Treasury product set
- Market practices in dealing
- Liquidity and market risk metrics

You have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office pack including VBA.
You are fluent in English.

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Londonis to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
