Mission Statement of Compliance (CPLE):

“Build a Compliance Division recognised as a trusted, efficient and independent partner enabling a sustainable business development for the Group”.

In order to achieve its mission statement, Compliance activities are supported by 10 Guiding Principles, as follows:

· Build a global Compliance team operating along clear, simple and shared rules in a spirit based on openness, mutual trust and respect

· Build a global Compliance Division committed to translate regulations into appropriate internal rules so that business is accountable for their implementation. Actively promote compliance risk awareness across the bank

· Build a global Compliance Division implementing an effective compliance program based on a comprehensive risk assessment and robust controls and testing framework

· Build a global Compliance Division making responsive and well-informed decisions / statements in a consistent, timely and documented way

· Build a global Compliance Division operating close to the BUs/SUs enabling sustainable business, with its central teams focusing on strong specific expertise and transversal supervision

· Build a global Compliance Division providing Management and Board with meaningful, transparent and regular reporting and advice on Compliance risks

· Build a global Compliance Division fostering trustworthy relationships with regulatory bodies based on sound, transparent and professional dialogue

· Build a global Compliance Division leveraging on innovation, actively looking to benefit from new technologies and data analytics and promoting experimentation

· Build a global Compliance Division composed of well-trained professionals, up to date on their area of expertise, and whenever possible certified by external bodies

Summary of the key purposes of the role

The main responsibilities of the Regulation and Policy (RAP) team are to:

· Manage regulatory horizon scanning for UK Wholesale Banking Compliance, conduct impact assessments on key regulatory developments and present findings to senior stakeholders for discussion or action.

· Manage and maintain the suite of Compliance policies covering the UK and Global Wholesale Banking perimeters. Advocate for a strong operational infrastructure to underpin these policies, in accordance with FCA and PRA accountability regimes.

The team's functional remit is within UK Wholesale Banking Compliance. It is based in London, with a strong collaboration model with equivalent teams in the Americas, APAC and EMEA.

Summary of Responsibilities

The main tasks relating to the role comprise supporting the RAP team in their delivery of the following key activities:

UK and Global Wholesale Banking Compliance Policy Management and Maintenance

· Custodian of the UK Wholesale Banking Compliance policy repository. Developing and overseeing annual policy roadmaps for UK and Global Wholesale Banking Compliance, which depict Compliance policies intended for review or creation over the coming year. Presenting quarterly policy status reports to the respective management committees.

· Drafting new or revised SG London Compliance policies in response to evolving regulatory rules or guidance, new or revised Group Instructions, business requirements, audit recommendations, policy lifecycles or Compliance monitoring reviews.

· Working closely with Group Compliance on policy governance matters and the adaptation of Group Instructions at entity or business unit levels. Contributing to the development of Group Compliance Instructions from the perspective of UK Wholesale Banking Compliance. Collaborating with Group Compliance on transversal projects.

Regulatory Watch, Regulatory Change Management and Impact Analysis

· Regulatory horizon scanning for regulatory developments of relevance to UK Wholesale Banking, utilising a range of sources such as regulator publications, law firms, Thomson Reuters, as well as general market watch methodologies. Maintaining a database of regulatory developments derived from these processes. Collaborating with global Compliance teams in APAC, EMEA and the Americas, to maintain visibility of their local regulatory developments and implementations, particularly those likely to have cross-border impacts.

· Analysing the Compliance impacts of UK Wholesale Banking regulatory developments on business and operational processes, policies and control frameworks and raising awareness with senior business, functional and operational stakeholders, in collaboration with the Legal department. Instigating or supporting regulatory adaptation projects, ensuring there is centralised coordination of change effort as necessary and maintaining oversight of deliverables and action owners.

Issuing a weekly UK Wholesale Banking Compliance Newsletter that is widely referenced across the Bank's business units, control functions and service units, as a vital source of information on regulatory intelligence, impactful regulatory developments (such as rule and guidance updates, industry benchmarks and enforcement actions) and UK Wholesale Banking Compliance policy releases.

Competencies

Compulsory

· Good knowledge of Compliance Functionality - Ability to understand Compliance Frameworks, Policy Governance and Financial Regulation in general.

· Excellent drafting and communication skills - Ability to communicate clearly, in writing, about key aspects of regulatory frameworks and related developments, as well as to present such analysis to stakeholders. Ability to explain clearly a regulatory development to an audience of non-experts.

· Organisational skills - Ability to gather input from various stakeholders and to coordinate actions.

Important

Excellent knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel - The job involves preparing reports for presentation to senior management to inform them of the status of the key deliverables such as policies, quarterly reports. In addition, it involves drafting roadmap trackers, action plans and executive summaries of regulatory developments.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Not essential, however internships or work experience in a Financial Services or Legal environment will be advantageous.
