Your environment
At Société Générale, you will be joining the Group General Secretariat (SEGL). SEGL monitors the administrative, legal and tax compliance of the Group's businesses in France and the rest of the world, in liaison with the Central Divisions, Core Businesses and other Societe Generale group entities. It is responsible for permanent control forlegal and tax risks and risks of non-compliance under the conditions set out in Directive no.86 (Compliance Monitoring). It is responsible for the Group's compliance function. It coordinates and manages Group insurance. It also supervises the development of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy within the Societe Generale group.

APAC Compliance maintains a local presence in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan (100+ staff in total). Our primary focus is to support Wholesale Banking activities (MARK - global capital markets & GLFI – global structured finance). The allocation of resources in the region is proportionate to company staffing, size of business activities and local regulatory constraints.

Hong Kong is the regional business and Compliance hub. The team is approx. 50+ staff and split into 6 areas of expertise.

·  Capital Markets Surveillance (CMS)
·  Compliance Testing LOD2, Reviews, Risk Assessment (CTL)
·  Financial Crime Unit (FCU)
·  Control Room (GIB)
In other countries, we have multi disciplinary compliance teams covering all functions.

The candidate will be a member of the Hong Kong Compliance team in charge of Capital Markets Surveillance (CMS) and he/she will be primarily reporting to the CMS Team Leader. The candidate will have to work closely with other team leaders of the Compliance Department.

Mission

Your role

During your VIE mission you will be in charge of these responsibilities :

·  Promptly undertake trade surveillance using the vendor's trade surveillance tool (SMARTS).
·  Promptly investigate and clearly communicate issues arising from the trade surveillance activities, involving advisory compliance officers as required in order to follow issues through to full resolution with the business lines as appropriate.
·  Proactive and timely escalation of issues to CMS supervisor as required, ensuring regular and frequent communication on such issues.
·  Active participation in regulatory and internal investigations as required.
·  Participation in departmental and team meetings, as required.
·  The candidate may also be required to work on the Communication Surveillance

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Hong Kong is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see www.civiweb.com .

You are graduated with a Master degree from Engineering or Business School or University with a specialization in Finance

Ideally you have past experience in a financial institution as part of the graduation program (preferably in Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, or Operations)

A first experience working abroad would be appreciated

You are fluent in English and French

You are proficient in Microsoft Office application (Excel, powerpoint)

You have the following job skills:

·  Necessary to understand the trading activities of Front Officers.
·  Trade Surveillance is a very time consuming task. The candidate must be ready to cope with a significant daily workload (around 100 alerts to check every day).
·  Communication is at the centre of what we do every day. The candidate must be fluent in English and French.
·  The candidate will be entrusted with projects and tasks of his/her own and his/her manager will expect to receive very clear and concise feedback on the work progress.
