Job Family Responsibilities:

Buyer/Planner I performs the monitoring of semi-complex materials through the production cycle, participates in buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials; expedites as needed and serves as liaison between vendors and users, getting prior approval for purchases in excess of established limits. Resolves semi-complex delivery, quality or other related problems with purchases, vendor invoices and production planning issues. Participates in updating production/tactical souring plans; reviews and analyzes requisitions and supply plans for domestic and international purchases. Completes and maintains reports; analyzes supplier capability; make/buy studies and cost analyses. Implements short and long-range inventory and logistics strategies using Siemens Production System (SPS) methodology. Initiates sourcing model ideas with suppliers and executes to achieve savings for the company.

Specific Requirements

Buyer/Planner I position will be responsible for the Tactical Sourcing and Production Planning of Fire and Comfort products. Detailed top to bottom materials requirements planning for all manufactured components is the primary role for this position. Included in this top to bottom plan is the on-going management of the short and long term manufacturing capacity plan. Buyer/Planner I must be able to collaborate across functional areas that include Strategic Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Logistics Distribution. Responsible for maximizing service levels while achieving inventory targets. Buyer/Planner I will participate on high visibility teams that will require accurate and timely data analysis and the ability to meet project deadlines.

Buyer/Planner I will complete and maintain various delivery and inventory reports, manage Engineering Change Orders (ECO), review and maintain Tactical Sourcing/Production Planning parameters in SAP, posses excellent written/verbal/computer/data analysis skills – specifically Excel (formulas, pivots, and charts). Buyer/Planner I must have experience with high volume, short lead time products and must possess working know ledge of Lean Manufacturing/Siemens Production System (SPS).

Knowledge and Experience:

Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues. Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Requirements and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable. SAP experience preferred.

Education:

BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
