PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The SAP Innovation Center Network (ICN) is SAP’s strategic innovation vehicle which combines software engineering excellence with thought leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. We pioneer game-changing solutions in close collaboration with SAP units, customers, partners & startups. 
Within ICN, the Machine Learning (ML) unit aims to make all business applications intelligent. We build out new lighthouse applications for ML, bring ML into existing SAP solutions, and empower all of SAP, customers and partners with ML services on SAP’s cloud platform. 

The mission of the ML for Sales and Service team is to Machine Learning build business services, which can be embedded in SAP products in in the customer engagement and commerce space to bring customer service and sales to the next level. New ML technologies, like deep learning, will be essential parts of this mission. 

As a Data Scientist on the team, you will work with SAP product and solution units to solve our customer’s biggest business challenges with machine learning models. You will turn initial models into scalable production APIs on SAP’s cloud platform, which other SAP units, customers and partners can easily integrate into existing and new offerings. You will report into the head of the ML for Sales and Service team.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

·  Validate machine learning use cases with SAP units and customers in proof-of-concepts.
·  Build deep learning models solving our customers’ toughest problems.
·  Contribute to encapsulation of deep learning models in scalable cloud services
·  Contribute to SAP’s ML thought leadership with external publications on ML

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required:

·  B.S., M.S. or PhD in Computer Science or a related field 
·  Familiarity with recent advances in deep learning (convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, reinforcement learning, generative adversarial networks, memory networks etc.)
·  Hands-on experience with one or more leading deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow preferred; CNTK, MxNet, Caffe, Theano, Torch etc. a plus)
·  Good written and oral communication skills in English; German a plus
·  Hands-on experience building models in natural language processing and one additional data domains (image, video, speech, tabular)
·  Familiarity with cloud engineering, containerization and dev ops
·  Ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders 

Optional:

·  Familiarity with agile development approach and tools
