Summary of purpose/major responsibilities

The Analytical Sciences group within Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater, PA is seeking an Analytical Scientist who will provide technical solutions by applying expertise in analytical chemistry for various types of projects including release test development, characterization testing and manufacturing investigation support. The main emphasis of this position is on testing of samples using multiple immunological techniques, but primarily SRID and DLS. The scientist will also be responsible for experimental design, validation and transfer plans. He or she may also responsible for maintaining the facilities and instrumentation, including safety and compliance aspects of the laboratory and the staff working in it as well as the physical maintenance of the instrumentation. The scientist is required to work both independently as well as within a variety of site and project or investigative teams, and will effectively communicate proposals and data analysis in both written and informal or formal presentations.

Job specific responsibilities:

·  Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for general analytical technologies
·  Develop, Validate and Transfer analytical test methods for release and stability of clinical products according to project needs and timelines across a variety of immunological technologies (SRID, DLS, ELISA, SPR)
·  Author analytical method development procedures, development and validation reports
·  Support routine release and stability testing of clinical products by performing analysis and/or reviewing and approving data
·  Maintain laboratories and equipment in a compliant state
·  Support routine release and stability testing of clinical products (proteins, polysaccharides and conjugate vaccines) by performing analysis and/or reviewing and approving data
·  Train departmental staff on assays
·  Follow GMP and compliance requirements as needed in performing and documenting all work.

Education/experience:

Bachelors or Masters in basic sciences, math, engineering, or pharmacy with 3-5 years' experience in biological processes or analytics in a cGMP environment. Candidate should possess educational and professional experience, commensurate with the position. Preference will be given to those candidates who have demonstrated experience in enzymology and protein purification.
