China Clinical Scientists and Medical Coding Head

Job description

China Clinical Scientists & Medical Coding head supports Clinical Scientists & Medical Coding Global Head to conduct transversal activities of the OMD&CD department, including but not limited to: Dictionaries and Coding group, Clinical Scientists in China sites and local CPA.
He/she is responsible to manage the human resources dedicated to related operational activities and to allocate activities and projects in coordination with the Heads of the respective teams.
He/She strives to streamline the work done, establishing adequate synergies between teams. He/She participates in global harmonization and optimization of processes across OMD&CD and allocate resources (clinical scientists, coding specialists) for new clinical trials in the scope of the Clinical Sciences & Operations Platform (CSO) of Sanofi R&D.
He/She participates in OMD&CD department involved transversal initiatives in and outside the CSO platform, interfacing with other departments.

Main Responsibilities

1.Management of operations
•In coordination with global head and function Heads provide operational oversight to ensure successful performance and high quality of deliverables

2.Management of organization
•Oversees the local staffing needs and consolidates resources
•Manage local insourcing, including selection of candidates, AED, onboarding and training
•In collaboration with global head and function Heads, allocates Clinical Scientists/Coding specialists to provide support for projects and/or studies
•Lead and manage Clinical Scientist Teams at CN Beijing and Chengdu sites
•Lead and manage China coding teams in CN Beijing and Chengdu sites
•Lead and manage CPA and BS in Beijing and Chengdu, supporting CSD activities, and TMF filing

3.Management of Interfaces
•Liaises with internal and external partners (e.g. GPE, clinical, biostatistics, RA, CROs, external providers)
•Participates in cross- departmental working groups for process development/optimization.
•Ensures appropriate circulation of updated information and adequate reporting of implemented actions internally and externally

4.Quality/Process improvement
•Develops and implements optimized strategies and processes.
•Manages people in developing a high level of team spirit and of motivation and customer focus approach
•Maintains and develops operational excellence.
•Establish training plans and quality control processes to ensure project deliverables with high quality from the teams. Strengthen the professional expertise in corresponding area. Eg: medical review, coding activities, grouping activity, protocol/CSR review, contract management supports, etc…

5.People Development
•Defines priorities and goals and follow ups on action items, assists in problem solving and corrective measures, conducts performance appraisals
•Ensures training and development of expertise, promotes exchange of best practices and lessons learned
•Develop people locally to be task leaders or team leaders in coding team and CSc teams.

Required Knowledge and Skills

•Leadership and management skills to lead teams in an international environment at different sites
•Excellent communication and collaboration with project teams, departmental associates, internal and external partners
•Remote people management experience
•Be an inspiring role model for his/her team and motivates teams
•Anticipates problems, issues, and delays; works proactively and takes the initiative for any corrective measures, that can be realized in the project/study teams
•Problem solving skills
•Able to acquire, apply new technical skills and to convey to the group
•Knowledge of sanofi business policies, tools, SOPs, regulations and guidance
•Competent in English and open to an international environment

Required Education/Experience

•Medecine (MD)
•Experience in Clinical Development, Clinical Data Management 5+ years with at least 3 years exposure to Coding & Dictionaries
•Previous managerial/supervisory and project management experience 3 + years
•Experience in working within a global team/environment
