About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about a new, technical challenge within pharmaceuticals? Sanofi Haverhill are seeking a Chemical Engineer to provide technical and engineering support to our spray drying production stream. This will be achieved through day-to-day production support and longer-term project-based work.

Sanofi focuses on developing specialty treatments for debilitating diseases that are often difficult to diagnose and treat. The Haverhill site is well located in the UK, near to Cambridge and close to London, which makes Haverhill a great location to work.

Our teams have unique skills and capabilities which have taken many years to master, including, spray drying, continuous processing and process analytical technology (PAT), as well as complex supply chain management and highly agile, secondary packaging operations dedicated to the Speciality Care portfolio. The 9-hectare site was acquired in 1982 and employees circa 300 people.

Key responsibilities

·  To take a lead role in the day-to-day trouble shooting spray drying productions
·  To take a lead role in the optimisation and evolution of processes
·  To take lead role of customer for manufacturing in larger projects and project engineer in smaller manufacturing technical support managed projects
·  Act as process engineer and SME for the technical team, with technical development focused around continuous manufacture
·  To work at all times in line with current Health & Safety legislation and Sanofi's own policies and procedures to maintain your own safety as well as that of the team and those around you
·  Lead/participate in safety investigations, safety reports and safety/environmental compliance activities
·  Seeks to challenge operational standards and looks for continuous improvement
·  Maintain required compliance documents by developing HSE, GMP and GAMP knowledge and understanding
·  Assists in both external and internal compliance audits for Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality
·  Lead and support the evaluation of manufacturing deviations and investigations using tools such as RCA/FMEA
·  Supports Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) and Lean initiatives

About You

To excel in this role, you will need to have:

·  Life science degree or equivalent, ideally in chemical/process engineering
·  Experience as a Chemical Engineer from the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or food industry
·  Ideally Chartered Engineer status
·  Working knowledge of cGMP, HSE standards and quality systems
·  Good communication and relationship building skills
·  Problem solver
