Position Title: B100 Metrologist

Site/Department: Toronto / B100 Technical Services

Major Job Responsibilities:

Perform scheduled and non-scheduled calibration task on equipment and instruments located at Sanofi Pasteur Toronto campuses within the scheduled month:

·  Perform calibration tasks such as Balance, Scale, Weight, Temperature, Pressure, Humidity, MAS and SaS Air Samplers, pH, Light, Liquid and Gas Flow, Pressure Switches, DPMs, Conductivity and CO2 Meters in accordance with calibration SOPs and manufacturers specifications.
·  Perform calibration tasks on systems such as Autoclaves, Fermenters, Freeze Driers, Steam Generators, WFI, Tunnel Sterilizers, Centrifuges, Chromatography systems, Filtration systems, Clean in Place, Steam in Place and Packaging and Filling Lines.
·  Perform calibration tasks on equipment such as Freezers, Incubators, Refrigerators, Ovens, Spectrophotometers.
·  Notify/assist equipment owners to ensure all GXP and non-GXP measuring equipment/instruments across sites are identified and scheduled for calibration work.

Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs):

·  Write and/or revise SOPs and SWIs for various equipment/instruments calibration.
·  Write specific calibration procedures for large and complicate equipment or instrument.
·  Ensure that all major types of equipment and instrument are covered with metrology SOPs.

Review CCMS database to ensure correct and appropriate equipment/instrument data (calibration and process specification/requirement) to minimize errors in certification work and facilitate accurate production planning:

·  Review CCMS data to ensure correct and appropriate equipment to minimize errors in certification work for each measuring equipment and instrument for production, QO, Development and research.
·  Check and provide data for CMMS and CCMS to ensure all equipment/instrument data is accurate and on an on-going calibration program.

Train other Metrology personnel and contractors/consultants on new processes and procedures. Attend technical training to ensure skills remain current and up to industry standard:

·  Provide training on subjects and issues in respect to calibration to production staff for use of calibrated equipment and instruments.
·  Share learnings from formal courses or field experience with metrology team.

Assist user department to complete Equipment/Instrument Registration in both CMMS and CCMS:

·  Assist production personnel with selection of new equipment and instruments for upgrade and acquisition of new equipment.
·  Assist production personnel in auditing and out-sourcing outside contractors.
·  Check and provide data for CMMS and CCMS to ensure all equipment/instrument data is accurate and on an on-going calibration program.

Documentation and verification work performed by other meteorologists to ensure accuracy and compliance to SOPs. Provide technical support to production for any calibration requirements and change as a result of change control:

·  Provide feedback to colleagues on any observed inaccuracies on certification work.
·  Update Technical Group Leader on completed work.
·  Attest by signature, to the validity of the work performed on certification reports.
·  Provide technical support for troubleshooting of production instruments and equipment when these do not function properly.
·  File notification for nonconformance events when calibration results are out of Process Calibration Tolerance Limits or in the case of calibration failures. Provide the instrument/equipment owners with explanations on how the out of tolerance measurements might have affected their process.

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Minimum four (4) year Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree with at least one (1) year of relevant work experience
·  In-depth knowledge of Metrology sciences & calibration techniques
·  Sound knowledge of cGMP and GLP guidelines
·  Strong Computer skills and familiarity with the following programs: SAP, ProCal, Microsoft Word
·  Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
·  Ability to use strong problem-solving skills to ensure the smooth running of the department
