Job Description

Medical Disease Liaisons (MDLs) are Field-based Medical Affairs Associates of Novartis, who develop peer-to-peer relationships with Healthcare Professionals (physicians) in order to generate scientific disease awareness and build scientific partnership by means of scientific and medical evidence-based non-promotional materials. MDLs strategically prepare and support development, launch and commercialization of Novartis products through scientific disease awareness activities, scientific exchange and medical education of scientific community, seeking external insights to shape Novartis understanding of the therapeutic, market and competition environment.

Disease awareness: Provide and communicate evidence-based information to enhance disease burden, disease pathophysiological mechanisms and importance of disease management optimization within the PDL´s territory. PDLs are responsible of providing and discussing advanced level scientific information and data to Heathcare Professionals to ensure quality and accuracy of medical and scientific information on new treatment options including Novartis products, selected areas of therapeutic interest and pipeline overviews, when appropriate. Provide speaker training to health care professionals to support the best use of new therapies developed and commercialized by Novartis. Strategic Scientific Partnership: build scientific partnership and when possible also advocacy, gain insights, support business strategy. Using advanced influential skills and the ability to handle challenging situations, develop professional relationships, gain partnership and build advocacy when possible, fostering high value contributions of Healthcare Professionals. Obtain advice and feedback from Healthcare Professionals regarding specific medical and scientific topics. Capture customers/medical field insights, analyze and communicate local and regional insights that may impact Novartis development plans /trial designs. Evaluate the impact of competitive information and make recommendations to share internally as post-meeting deliverables. MDLs contribute and lead Healthcare Professionals (physicians) identification, mapping and profiling. Defining an agreed target list according to Business Franchise strategy. Contribute to develop and lead implementation of the Communication Plan Provide medical support to Novartis colleagues (e.g. sales reps). Screen, evaluate and suggest external to internal business collaborations. Collaborate and may lead efforts with Medical Advisors/TA Medical Teams Work within any given legal framework, Novartis Ethics and Compliance policies and ensure those around him/her do the same. Minimum requirements

Degree in Medicine, veterinary science or PHd. Spanish and English (Fluent in oral and written). Ability to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with health care professionals. Knowledge and experience of the Healthcare System and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to influence and negotiate with Heathcare Professionals by leveraging advanced knowledge of a Therapeutic Area. Ability to synthesize recent scientific information, analyze them within strategic and regulatory settings. Proven ability to use IT tools and interface effectively with a variety of technical platforms. Strong personal integrity and customer focus. Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation and advanced presentation skills. Must be able to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing field based
