Job description
Working across all areas of assembly and test in the Pitstone generator and electronics facility this also includes key skills associated with in process machining and wound assemblies. Successful candidates will spend time in all manufacturing and repair modules covering a wide range of skills as detailed below in the full description.
5 x Engineer Apprentices required to work within the manufacturing and repair modules at Pitstone Electrical and Power.
Training will be based on a rotational schedule where the apprentice spends time in all manufacturing and repair modules. For generator build areas the following core skills will be included in the training,
•Soldering to IPC standard
•Generator General assembly
•Rotor balance
•Brazing
•Winding
•Drilling, Milling, Turning, Grinding
•Torque Tightening
•Painting/Masking
For Electronic build areas the following core skills will be included in the training,
•Surface mount Printed Circuit Board repair and component replacement.
•Soldering to IPC standard
•General assembly of Electronic control equipment
•Full functional test using both manual and ATE equipment
In all areas the following principles will apply
•Assemble products on time and in line with quality standards.
•Operate machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures.
•Follow and apply health and safety processes onsite.
•Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained at workstation and surrounding area.
•Work as a team member to increase team performance / productivity
If a candidate has a bias for either electronics or mechanical skills this can be accommodated in the training.
Training will also cover all documentation associated with build and Quality control and include induction awareness training in support areas of, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Test equipment and logistics planning.
From time to time you may be required to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within the capabilities of the individual and where necessary training will be given.

5 GCSE passes (A-C grade) including Maths and English (or equivalent.
• Evidence of written English at interview stage. This will be through providing certification of a formal English or technical qualification studied in the UK or overseas in English. If this cannot be provided you will be required to complete and pass an online SHL English comprehension test as part of the interview process.
