As Translational Physician Scientist you will provide clinical development project leadership in I3 and contributes to broad clinical strategy and translational medicine plans across the I3 portfolio.
This includes the following primary responsibilities and accountabilities:

·  Represent translational medicine on discovery teams and external joint research teams to ensure alignment on strategy between pharma development and discovery, to support target and clinical candidate selection and to provide guidance on benefit/risk assessment and risk mitigation activities
·  Ensure the timely development of the I3 clinical development plan including the biomarker strategy and Proof of Concept (PoC) scenarios to ensure fast and efficient assessment of the clinical candidate and fact-based go/no go decisions for the molecule or the program
·  Develop protocols for PoC and confirmatory studies and supports protocol development for experimental medicine and clinical pharmacology studies
·  Ensure that assigned clinical programs are of the utmost scientific quality considering scientific, regulatory, business, cost and time perspectives
·  Assume medical leadership for projects in throughout I3 asset development and is accountable for clinical deliverables at the project level
·  Lead one or more clinical team
·  Propose, establish and lead external collaborations relevant to assigned project and to disease area strategy; participate in due diligences
·  Present clinical development plan or element thereof and organize scientific advisory board meetings
·  Lead the global development team during the confirmatory phase: may define and lead exploratory translational science activities to support life cycle team and/or disease area strategies
·  Contribute to aspects of disease area strategy planning
·  Maintain external scientific presence through high quality publications in peer-reviewed journals or oral presentations in international congress

To be successful in this role you bring:

·  MD or MD/PhD with clinical training in immunology, inflammation or infectious disease field.
·  Proven track record in conducting and directing original, innovative, clinical and/or translational research as demonstrated by academic publications or accomplishments in the pharmaceutical industry
·  Experience in drug development preferred
·  Demonstrated track record of NDA filing and/or filing IND and providing clinical leadership to I3 or early stage development programs preferred
·  Understanding of the current unmet medical needs in the therapeutic area
·  Leadership and managerial skills, including motivating, delegating, mentoring, coaching, line management, high level of business awareness and excellent planning and organizational skills
·  Track record of innovative/novel approaches to assigned tasks
·  Strong social, teamwork, interpersonal and influencing skills - able to build and maintain relationships
·  Energetic, flexible, patient-focused and creative thinker
·  Exceptional knowledge in own field of science which is applied to advance projects or programs
·  A team player with communication skills
·  Fluent in English
