Description:

Responsible for preparation of standardized and custom reagent formulations as well as processing laboratory glass and plasticware to support R&D scientific staff. Position requires excellent organizational skills and strict adherence to Quality System Regulations, Safety requirements, departmental procedures and Good Laboratory Practices. Strong customer focus and solid interpersonal skills are essential to establish effective internal/external cross-functional relationships to accomplish goals such as on-time delivery and maintenance of general stock of reagents and glassware. Must be able to work under limited supervision for executing routine tasks and use independent judgment for managing daily workload.

Laboratory Responsibilities

- Prepares a variety of custom reagents (PCR buffers, growth media, and solutions) following written established protocols with a high level of efficiency, organization, and productivity and maintains inventory of stock solutions for the general supply.

- Responsible for the collection and processing of dirty and/or bio-contaminated stock labware from R&D laboratories following written departmental/standard operating procedures. Process and deliver custom glassware orders submitted by scientific staff. Maintain stock inventory and deliver labware to designated areas.

- May assist in development, design, organize or improve media recipes, media operating procedures, and technical functions in conjunction with supervisor. Provide input in writing batch records, new protocols and reports.

- Provide input for revising existing glassware procedures. Assist manager with development and implementation of new procedures and evaluating new products/equipment. Write or assist with generation of new standard operating procedures for R&D Services Media/Glassware Operations.

- Serves as a resource and subject matter expert to scientific staff regarding media preparation, glassware processing and support issues.

- Assists supervisor in administrative functions such as maintaining supplies, generating expense purchase requisitions, assembling/inputting work output data, and general record keeping.

- Operate and perform preventive maintenance on departmental equipment as per written procedures. Maintains equipment in a consistent state of audit readiness in anticipation of inspections by regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, LRQA, OSHA, Cal-OSHA, CESA) and Internal Audits.

- Maintain all required training in compliance with company procedures to avoid training gaps.

- Work cross-functionally with Facility/Calibration-Validation/SHE teams to ensure lab conditions and equipment remains compliant with Quality, Safety, and departmental requirements.

Education:
·  Bachelor's degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field. Experience:
·  Minimum: 1 year of media preparation, 2 years of glassware.
·  Preferred: 3-or more years of relevant experience working in an IVD GMP/ISO regulated environment. Other Qualifications:
·  Ability to work independently and also possess excellent people skills in order to build effective internal/cross-functional relationships.
·  Strong desire to work in a highly regulated environment, with diligent attention to detail to ensure laboratory areas meet regulatory, departmental, and safety requirements.
·  Willingness to take on new challenges, perform additional tasks when necessary, and work in multiple R&D Services areas when necessary.
·  Basic proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
