UK - Assistant Process Quality Engineer - Tyre Uniformity (Burton on Trent)

The successful applicant will work 42 hours per week, 08.00-17.00 Monday to Friday

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Process Quality Engineer to join our MIRS department in Burton on Trent.

The main purpose of this role is to promote the Pirelli quality strategy focused on Prestige, ensuring efficient implementation and continuous improvement in accordance with Pirelli Tyres UK procedures (Ethical Code, Vision, Mission, Policy and Regulations). The successful candidate will have responsibility for CI activities relating to Tyre Uniformity, Geometry and Unbalance, in addition to Quality and Technology responsibilities.

Key objectives will be to:

· Ensure the compliance with the role HSE RACI specification

· Ensure the compliance and development of quality standards in Pirelli Tyres UK

· Increase the overall OE Critical yield above target

· Continuously improve Quality KPI’s (FP, TU, Unbalance waste, claims etc.)

· Verification of all MIRs processes relative to the specification and FMEA’s, control plans, WP’s

Key responsibilities include:

Planning/Development

· Involvement in the setting of annual quality improvement plans and actively supporting project teams with the introduction of new/modified processes and equipment

· Proposing, supporting and delivering training activities related to tyre uniformity

Continuous Improvement

· Analysis of long term trends related to tyre uniformity

· Planning and execution of CI projects to improve long term uniformity problems

· Participating in international PQE meetings, exchanging best practices and networking with the other factories

Quality and Technology

· Providing support on Quality related factory issues and ensuring queries are addressed with the appropriate decisions made

· Ensure daily analysis and reporting is carried out for Quality KPI’s. Identify and, where necessary, carry out recovery actions for MIRs defects to minimise product & process defects

· Where required, carry out specification tuning and conduct process and product control checks

· Support in industrialisation and product sign offs

There is a requirement for the individual to be educated to a higher education level of HNC or above in a technical field. Knowledge of IATF16949 and a demonstrated track record in a specialised Quality role is essential. Candidates must have knowledge of the root cause analysis tool, 5WHY’s and Ishikawa. There is also a requirement for intermediate skills in Microsoft applications, with advanced skills in Excel. The successful candidate will be an innovator/facilitator/Co-ordinator who is willing to challenge the status-quo. They will be self-motivated, proactive and focussed, with strong communication and excellent networking skills. The ability to drive forward improvement activities using sound methodology and professional integrity, as well as the ability to act proactively to client’s requirements by delivering results and meeting their expectations is essential. Candidates must demonstrate professional excellence and analysis capacity, identifying creative and appropriate solutions.
