Overview:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the field based advocate of Janssen Medical Sciences. They are the scientific point of contact for key opinion leaders (KOLs) in a given territory and help address medical, scientific and research needs. The MSL team is accountable for the execution of the Medical Sciences Plan. They provide field insights to inform business strategy.

As the Medical Science Liaison your key responsibilities will be:

·  Maintain up-to-date scientific expertise with regular attendance at key scientific / clinical / economic conferences/meetings, training sessions and/or preceptorships to translate data into applicable knowledge and communication platform
·  Disseminate, review and present clinical and scientific data in a balanced, unbiased manner, to key opinion leaders and other HCP's, in group and one-on-one settings
·  Build strong relationships with HCP's based on scientific credibility (development and sustainability through clear engagement plans)
·  With central team, develop scientific communication materials (slide presentations) for use with and/or provision to HCPs
·  Establish a regional scientific leadership strategy via credible and informed scientific dialogue with KOLs
·  Lead/support/participate in medical/scientific forums (e.g. CMEs) where KOLs are involved
·  Support phase IIIB/IV local/global clinical development program in the areas of site identification, patient enrollment, and follow-up visits
·  Support investigator initiated studies by fielding and assessing research requests, aligning investigator interests with Janssen's research needs, and engaging investigators to ensure the successful execution and satisfactory completion of studies
·  Analyze data – new and post hoc – to develop insights and contribute to publications as appropriate
·  Provide expert clinical consultation, education and support to business partners (e.g. Access, Medical Education, Sales and Marketing etc. as appropriate)
·  Partner and collaborate with in-house business partners to facilitate ongoing exchange of clinical information and insights
·  Provide regional medical perspective to influence the Integrated Evidence Generation plan and Access strategy
·  Support the global Medical Science publication plan

Desired profile

Qualifications

·  A minimum of Graduate degree in a Health Sciences field is required; Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D. is an asset
·  A minimum of 3 years business experience in the pharmaceutical industry. May be balanced against a strong clinical and/or scientific background in a relevant therapy.
·  Knowledge of Hematology is highly desirable. Should have the ability to acquire expertise in other therapeutic areas and products, depending on pipeline and/or changing business priorities.
·  Bilingualism in French and English is a requirement.
·  Have a proven ability to learn quickly, assimilate and distill large amounts of information and build and maintain relationships.
·  Demonstrated experience of managing clinical/ scientific programs with a high degree of autonomy, including successfully managing significant programs from study concept to publication.
·  Strong knowledge of GCP, Rx&D code and Healthcare Compliance policies and procedures. Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOP's.
·  Proven ability to effectively communicate information to KOLs, as well as non-experts.
·  Ability to put data into perspective and communicate it concisely, as required.
·  Demonstrated critical thinking, strong project management skills and ability to impact decision making with relevant stakeholders.
·  Business acumen required, including prioritization skills and big picture orientation.
·  Scientific knowledge, curiosity, familiarity and interest to keep abreast of scientific trends within the therapeutic area.
·  Ability to travel up to 60%, mainly domestic travel, as this is a customer facing position. Overnight travel may be required as much as 1-2 times per week on average, depending upon region covered.
