Job description

Job Description

In a world where the structures on chips are moving towards physical limitations and new devices are being invented (e.g. FinFET), software systems for design, layout and verification strategies get more and more challenging.

This is a position at Intel`s Communication and Devices Group (iCDG) in Munich, joining a diverse team of engineers working on different fields of PDK development, product support, and design automation. The process design kit (PDK) is a collection of software files describing the process technology for CAD tools, which are needed to enable schematic as well as physical layout.
As an experienced team member you will be responsible for different parts with the responsibility of driving alignments/schedules for dedicated tasks, for example techfiles, layout & schematic libraries, design/layout methods, general implementation strategies for new requests (RF, analogue/mixed-signal or digital driven) as well as for the automated test procedures. The team supports all technology nodes used (state of the art technologies). In this position, continuous learning is mandatory as you will be confronted with many new challenges during your daily work (e.g. additional design rules, new device types, and new verification and design methodologies like high-voltage concepts, multi-power domains, and new parasitic effects).

An excellent background in semiconductors is required, as you will work in close interaction with device modeling experts, library development teams (standard cells, IO, memory) as well as with product designers and layout/mask designers. The implementations need strong alignment with design automation teams to get the benefits from existing EDA software. Hence programming skills are highly desired to code test implementations or to speed up debugging tasks.
You should have strong, proven problem-solving skills, as assignments are semi-routine in nature.

As the team is providing support to all of our design centers, you will be assessing architecture and layout limitations, develop automation routines, and prepare design specifications and recommendations for designers and layout/mask designers, too. This means you need negotiation skills to drive such definitions into the product development teams based on your alignments with the technology development teams.
