Did you know? IBM Z mainframes securely handle 87% of all credit card transactions ($7.7 trillion per year). IBM Z mainframes efficiently run 68% of the world's production workloads – at only 6% of the total IT cost. We are looking for an experienced designer who thrives in a collaborative environment to lead a cross functional design squad that creates modern, user-centric products for the mainframe, the most business critical system in the world. Along with this work on next generation Enterprise solutions, shorter term projects include workshop facilitation with IBMers and clients, proof of concepts, demos, presentations, and more. The candidate must be a self-starter, creative in their thinking about design issues, have strong communication and documentation skills and be able to work with a wide variety of people (clients, designers, content developers, engineers, offering managers, product owners, and executives) - both face-to-face and with globally distributed teams. They should also be eager to mentor new designers to help them grow as practitioners of their craft.

Responsibilities include:
Designing business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces and demos
Translating actionable insights from the design research team into mockups & wireframes (low and high fidelity) for user scenario flows
Researching and validating customer requirements
Collaboration with Offering Management to create design hills and user stories for planning release cycles
Building relationships with customers, business partners, and a variety of IBM teams

Skills Required:
Deep experience (3-5 years) with creating user scenarios for usability testing, analysis of industry trends, task analysis, workflow design, layout & composition
Experience with creating mockups, design patterns and navigation/interaction design
Experience with visual design tools and knowledge of application of styles across user interfaces

Demonstratable knowledge of wireframing and design tools - for example, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Sketch, and Axure.
Knowledge of design methodologies and information architecture
Presentation skills and storytelling - ability to engage with sponsor users as well as internal stakeholders.
Understand modern design thinking and design trends, including responsiveness and accessibility
Understand different industries to better gauge how design issues and users can differ
Appreciate and articulate design details
Have an understanding of interface & user experience design best practices for web and mobile devices
Comfortable with Agile methodologies and teams
