At the IBM R&D center in Böblingen we develop central components around resource management and performance optimization for the IBM Z mainframe operating system z/OS that:
·  processes 20x more transactions per second than leading web search engines
·  controls 23 billion ATMs and 79 billion credit card transactions per year
·  manages 80% of global data
·  is involved in 55% of global business transactions
For monitoring and reporting of an activity, controlling resource usage, and enabling workload optimization within the whole system, or even multiple systems, Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) is used. It is active in almost every z/OS environment to gather all types of data on system workloads and resources usage, enabling system health checking, goal attainment supervision, problem determination, trend analysis, and capacity planning.

Having multiple components, starting with those implemented with low-level hardware related programming languages and ending up with the state-of-the-art SaaS and FaaS architectures, RMF allows you to develop your career in various ways. Besides software development, you can take the advantage of working within the project that gathers most of the systems' data and enables you to evolve and use your skills of data processing, e.g., Data Mining and Machine Learning.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
·  RMF software development, including coding, testing, deployment, and support
·  Problem solving through system data analysis
·  Participating in development environment improvements, including SCM and CI/CD setup and usage
·  Putting forward own ideas on product development and evolution, taking the responsibility to prove their' consistency and initiative to conceptualize and implement them

Your technical profile:
·  BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computational Linguistics, Business informatics, or related fields of study
·  Finished internship/working-student activity in any company and/or several group projects during the education and/or half a year of professional experience
·  Strong knowledge and practical usage of at least one object-oriented programming language (preferable C++ or Java and any libraries)
·  Knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Python)
·  Basic knowledge of Version Control Systems (preferable git)
·  Command Line Interface knowledge for Unix and/or Windows OS
·  Background in Data Mining and/or Pattern Recognition and/or Machine Learning
·  Knowledge of xml format
·  Fluent German and/or English
Additional advantage:
·  MA/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computational Linguistics, Business informatics, or related fields of study
·  Practical experience during internship and group project(s) with C++ and Java with its' frameworks (e.g., Spring, JavaEE); knowledge of REST and SOAP
·  Hands-on experience with git
