Junior Database Administrator

Job description

This position will work on multiple customer projects as part of a Database and Platform Migration Services team with primary work involving the operational platform & IBM software support, migrations and setup of database environments across heterogeneous platforms. The position will participate in team or company projects as required, maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of existing best practices in database and platform support, administration, monitoring, provide on-call support, and also migrations, design, and implementation, capacity planning. This position may support IBM Db2 LUW V10.1, V10.5, V11.1 across multiple platforms, along with the management of backup & recovery, replication and high availability features. Additional responsibilities include: improvements of database integrity through quality assurance and manages change control processes related the Db2 LUW database environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

Work as a collaborative member in a Database and Platform Support Services team with shared responsibility for Engineered Systems platforms, databases and IBM software support activities.
The following key activities will also be required:
-Migrations, moves and cloning of databases and environments.
-Technical Configuration changes of database environments.
-Management of HA and DR capabilities in database environments, including replication, partitioning and clustering technologies.
-Testing of Replication, Backup and Recovery (including Disaster Recovery).
-Performance tuning, alerting & monitoring, server configuration.
-Assessment and analysis of database environments.
-Participate in capacity management and planning activities.
-Platform layout changes for database hosting.
-Implement and utilize the Release and Change Management as well as other ITIL processes.
-Working with application developers to integrate efforts with relational databases.
-Platform and Database Reporting.
