Internship/Praktikum: R&D of a Ranking strategy for Search results
Praktikum Stuttgart (Regierungsbezirk Stuttgart) Administration
Job description
Research and develop a Ranking strategy for Search results
We are a development team for search services for the product "IBM Watson Content Hub". "Search" is a core service with many facets to it. One of the big challenges is how to identify what the user is actually looking for and use that information to modify the user's search input to find and promote the best possible matches. The underlying search engine is based on open source Solr technology. This Diploma-/Master-Theses to research and develop a ranking strategy for Search results
The ranking strategy must improve the search results for a user and should at least contain 2 steps:
1. Classifying a user search request
2. and assign this to the most appropriate ranking strategy
A possible user scenario could be an online retailer with a webshop consisting of products, categories as well as web content related to those products sold by the online retailer.
Very simple example: "one-word" search focused on hits mainly in the title or the description. More interesting is a search request with multiple search terms, including question words, key words, fillers and so on.
The classification needs to use cognitive and speech-analysis services.
The results should be documented in respective Solr/Lucene Query.
