The primary function of a Principal Technician is to provide support for various projects assigned by Engineers and/or Supervisor. Specifics include the collection of data using various test methods, basic analysis of collected data and submission of a test report to the requester. Expected to support laboratory policies as well as participate in 5S. May provide on-site support to customers.

· Conducts all R&D laboratory work in a safe manner including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to site safety practices, use of laboratory equipment, 5S, etc.
· Assists in maintaining project time-lines.
· Provides support for various projects assigned by Engineers and/or Supervisor.
· Employs basic problem-solving skillsets to overcome project bottlenecks and maintain project deliverable dates.
· Collects and organizes data in a coherent format. Communicates basic observations regarding data and/or experimental outcome.
· Expected to train other Technicians regarding equipment operation and/or test procedures.
· Ability to perform routine tests and operate application equipment safely and efficiently.
· Ability to design /carry out simple, small-scale experiments.
· Ability to identify abnormalities in collected data and/or project work and recommend solutions or paths forward.
· Expected to interact with customers via email and /or tele-cons.
· Familiar with products associated with assigned technology team/market/region.
· May provides on-site customer support for developmental/commercialized products while accompanied by a more experienced Engineer.
· May take on equipment ownership and responsible for maintaining safe operation of the assigned equipment.
· Writes Equipment Operating Procedures and/or Department Standard Operating Procedures.
· Inter-departmental submission of presentations and/or reports.

Qualifications :

Who we are looking for

·  Associate's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or other related fields is preferred.
·  Ability to gather, understand, and interpret chemical, physical and mechanical data.
·  Demonstrated ability to partner with other team members in product development programs.
·  Candidate must be able to work as a team member and independently on multi-task assignments.
·  Knowledgeable in Power Point, Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, Microsoft Project and Statistical Analysis Software is preferred.
·  Availability to work different shifts if needed.
·  Ability to work in a chemical lab environment and with lab equipment and computers. Able to carry out laboratory activities.
·  Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of times.
·  Strong verbal communication skills one-on-one with colleagues/customers as well as in front of groups.
·  Uses good scientific judgment, statistical analysis, root cause identification and robust solution implementation.
·  Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift up to 25 lbs.
·  May require passing additional security screening based on customer requirements.
