Role Summary/Purpose
This position will belong to the GE Wind Instructor team, based at the Energy Learning Center (ELC) in Niskayuna. This individual will be responsible for providing training in the classroom and at remote locations as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Wind Training Instructor, you will:
· Instruct internal GE and customer training classes in all aspects of wind turbine systems, operations and maintenance
· Develop course curriculum and content
· Strong collaboration with Engineering and field support organizations to incorporate new products, known issues and solutions into the course content
· Strong ability to quickly assess students’ abilities and adjust / alter course content based on class experience
· Support equipment upgrades in the training center
· Work with other instructors to clean and maintain lab area
· Identify best course curriculum delivery methods (on-line, Webex, video, etc.)
· Actively participate in EHS programs
· Strong computer skills
· Ability to work with Excel, PowerPoint, Word & MS Office
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, IT, Computer Science, or any other technical program from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 years of experience in power generation operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
· OR Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, IT, Computer Science, or any other technical program from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 4 years of experience in power generation operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
· OR High school diploma / GED and minimum of 6 years of experience in power generation operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability and willingness to travel (up to 15%)
· Ability and willingness to work second shift on occasion
· Ability and willingness to have a Valid Driver's License
· Ability and willingness to have a Valid Passport and eligible for international travel
Desired Characteristics
· Experience as a classroom instructor or demonstrated ability to coherently present information from detailed technical level to executive or management overview
· Experience with the 1.x turbine platform
· Experience with the 2.x turbine platform
· Wind farm site experience
· Willingness and ability to climb wind turbines and work at height when necessary
· High Rescue Train the Trainer qualified
· EHS classroom instructor qualified
· Understanding of the electric utility industry
· Strong analytical capabilities and ability to lead in cross-functional and global team environments
· Ability to quickly establish credibility with internal and end-user customers
· Dynamic personality with the energy and passion to teach
· English fluency. Proficient in additional languages, particularly with technical explanations
