Role Summary/Purpose

GE Digital is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to work as part of the Cyber Security Engineering group in Israel. The group is responsible for building cutting edge security applications and platform services, as part of GE cloud-based platform named Predix.
Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will:
• Act as a member of the Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high quality design and development practices
• Develop high performing, scaling and innovative end-to-end web applications
• Collaborate with system engineers, frontend developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and
solutions
• Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing
Techniques
• Writes codes that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
• Build features such as web services and Queries on existing tables
• Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
• Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using language of choice
Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
• A minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience
• Strong knowledge in design patterns and OO design and implementation
• A clear understanding of cloud service and deployment models
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:
• Hands on experience in one or more of Java, Go, Ruby, Python, Node.JS, JavaScript, AngularJS.
• Experience with the following tools and technologies is highly desired: Spring, Multithreading, REST API.
• Experience with database tools (JPA, Hibernate,JDBC, Spring Data)
• Experience with modern tools like Maven, Gradle, Git, SVN.
• Experience with virtualized infrastructure and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) such as: vSphere, OpenStack, Amazon Web Services, or Google Compute Engine

• Experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS) such as: Cloud Foundry, Heroku or similar – big advantage
• Familiarity with IT Operations processes and technologies including Chef, Puppet, BOSH or similar – advantage
• Experience in the field of Industrial Internet - advantage
• Experience with LXC Linux Containers – advantage
• Experience with cyber security, distributed systems and web architectures – big advantage

• Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
• Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
• Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience
• Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry
