Role Summary/Purpose

The Life Sciences Commercial Controller will partner with the commercial operations, sales, legal and finance teams to help them apply appropriate revenue recognition rules and contracting practices. This role is responsible for delivering effective commercial controllership through strong commercial process and policy, deal support, and accounting for commercial related transactions focusing on the Life Sciences businesses.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Reports to the GEHC Life Sciences U.S. Controller and will also have a strong relationship with the broader GEHC US/Canada and Regional Life Sciences Commercial Controllership Team. 
·  Help commercial operations, sales, legal and finance teams apply appropriate revenue recognition rules and contracting practices through consultation, review of commercial contracts and related transactions, and continuous training and education across business functions 
·  Collaborate with commercial and related functional teams providing transaction/deal structure guidance ensuring the financial, accounting and compliance implications are understood 
·  Ensure controls over contracting processes exist allowing for the timely and effective identification and accounting for non-standard contracts 
·  Assist with training to ensure compliance with global and regional revenue recognition policies
·  Ensure adequate controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements specific to revenue recognition and other related commercial transactions 
·  Own the U.S. Life Sciences balance sheet for commercial accounting related areas. Establish and own review processes to monitor the balance sheet ensuring timely identification of issues and resolution 
·  Manage close processes including key commercial account analytics, account reconciliations, GE Corporate Data Request (DR) submissions, representation letters, and adjusting entries
·  Research and resolution of complex commercial finance and accounting issues 
·  Perform ad hoc projects related to commercial controllership and broader controllership areas
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, finance or related field 
·  Revenue Recognition knowledge and experience (ASC 606) 
·  Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions; confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position; for example, work closely with business leaders to achieve business objectives while driving controllership/GE Values 
·  Experience working in global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows 
·  Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment and succeed in a matrix environment
·  Adaptable/flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations
·  Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others
·  Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change. 
·  Clear thinking / problem solving: successfully led cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations/finance function involving process improvement; able to grasp new ideas quickly. 
·  Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing. 
·  Solid PC skills: experience with financial systems/applications (i.e.: SAP, Oracle, etc.), strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation.
