Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead NDT Application Specialist will be responsible for the development of Ultrasonic NDT inspections solutions / applications from device selection or design through procedure development including data acquisition using Conventional Ultrasound, Phased Array Ultrasound and Eddy Current technologies.
Essential Responsibilities

Focus on creating integrated application solutions to solve inspection applications for our customers aligned with industry codes and standards and based on emerging trends and needs in the NDT industry. The Lead NDT Application Specialist will be required to keep current with industry codes, understand new inspection trends and needs, and translate those into design and/or procedural specifications.

In the role of Lead NDT Application Specialist, you will:

·  NDT Industry experience with UT / EM inspection technologies and/or custom applications development. Ability to evaluate test specimens and select the appropriate equipment and develop an inspection process to identify the desired flaws

·  Create the specifications for new custom inspection solutions. Provide quotations, oversee their construction, test / tune and validate for their intended installation. Frequent interaction with high-level personnel at major customers, sales teams, engineering and product management on development of special UT / EM solutions

·  Work closely with engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and all documentation is properly prepared for hand-off to production

·  Support design and manufacturing growth opportunities as assigned with the primary focus on Ultrasonic transducers and solutions, but with possible inclusion of Eddy Current, and Remote Visual inspection technologies

·  Work closely with customers to develop scope and deliverables for new custom designs. Manage NDT development projects while adhering to project schedules and performance requirements

·  Execute with support and guidance from GEIT NDT COE’s the analysis, design, test and/or integration required to manage and support the assigned projects to meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements

·  Provide technical leadership to internal and external customers as assigned

·  Document products and technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university

·  Minimum 3 years of NDT industry, Ultrasound design, and/or application experience
Desired Characteristics

·  Experience reading engineering drawings

·  ASNT Level II or III equivalency in UT (EM or other complimentary techniques are desired)

·  Experience with NDT inspection systems and/or devices

·  Practical, hands-on experience in one or more of the following NDT modalities (UT,ET,RVI)

·  Knowledge of UT and EM probe design and fabrication techniques and industrial NDT applications

·  Experience with Industry Code committee specification writing or in developing NDT applications

·  Knowledge of standard system integration

·  Proficiency with the design, test / tune and analysis tools relevant to the function

·  Computer literate with experience using 3D software – specifically SolidWorks

·  Beneficial Skills include: Mechanical Design; Broad understanding of mechanical principles; Knowledge of machining practices; Electronics and Electro-mechanics; Six Sigma / Lean experience or certifications

·  Significant experience relevant to indicated position area of expertise

·  Minimum 3 years of hands on multi-modality NDT expertise desirable

·  NDT field inspection experience highly desirable – with an emphasis on power generation, oil & gas or aerospace

·  Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

·  Project management experience

·  MS Word, Excel, CAD, and SAP SW experience

·  Requires high energy, assertiveness, and self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment with limited direction

·  Individual must be a self-starter, creative and strategic thinker who has a passion for products, customers and NDT inspection

·  Highly customer centric, strong technical aptitude with the ability to execute and drive results
