Role Summary/Purpose

The Product Sustainment Engineer provides engineering design support to a wide range of civil and military Avionics products. The Product Sustainment Engineer role spans the product life cycle.
Essential Responsibilities

The Product Sustainment Engineer provides input to new product development (design for manufacture, design for test) supports transition of products from development into mfg, updates designs to address component obsolescence, improve reliability or performance and reduce cost of manufacture, test, or repair
In addition, as the Product Sustainment Engineer, you will:
>Assume support responsibility for assigned Avionics products
>Investigate and resolve issues with products in manufacture, test, or fielded service
>Issues can be related to: design, materials, testing, manufacturing process or customer usage
>Identify and coordinate corrective action including design changes as needed, while ensuring continued product compliance with all requirements including: Performance, reliability, safety, configuration control and regulatory certification
> Drive factory performance improvements with design changes to improve test yields, materials cost, or manufacturing cost
>Proactively engage product development teams, to ensure that new product is designed for efficient manufacture and test
>Address component obsolescence in mature products by qualifying alternate parts, or by product redesign if needed
>Drive continuous product improvement using a closed loop Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
>Identify and support product design enhancements to add customer value or reduce overall product life cycle cost
>Define requirements and support design of factory test equipment
>Support resolution of supplier quality issues
>Generate and maintain documentation to support build, test, and repair of products
>Support procurement of sub-assemblies
> Identify design requirements
>Review supplier designs and supplier’s implementation of design changes where needed
>Interface with internal management and customers to report on issues, explain corrective actions, and pursue opportunities for product improvement
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of IT, engineering, scientific or other technical experience)
A minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position
