Role Summary/Purpose

The Field Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing quality performance for assigned GE Aviation Engines Composites raw material and hardware suppliers. This position will work remotely in the Greater Los Angeles area. Tracks metrics & works quality improvement plans addressing problem areas. Reviews & approves quality plans. Investigates quality escapes to ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions. Mentors suppliers in the use of quality tools & requirements.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Field Supplier Quality Engineer, you will:

·  Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence
·  Works with allocated key suppliers to improve Quality and Delivery metrics to target levels

·  Serves as Subject Matter Expert within Sourcing CCC (Buyer, Contract Administrator, and SQE) for GE Aviation Quality System Requirements, including (but not limited to) S-1000, S-1001, S-1002

·  Oversees and approves supplier completion of quality system requirements and ensures compliance for product release (e.g., FAI, Source Substantiation, etc.)

·  Leads supplier investigations
·  Develops corrective actions
·  Validates effective implementation for quality concerns / issues / escapes
·  Presents results to reviewing authorities

·  Owns supplier improvement plans related to nonconformances (MRB & QEM) and drives reductions through manufacturing improvements and engineering design changes

·  Uses data analytics to identify risks and opportunities for quality improvement and escape prevention

·  Provides onsite support at suppliers, as needed
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

·  Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering

Ability and willingness to travel as needed for role (most travel will be in the Greater Los Angeles region)

Desired Characteristics

·  Engineering degree from an accredited university or college preferred

·  Experience with Composite materials and manufacturing; processes

·  Basic understanding of GE Aviation Engines Quality Management System (policies, procedures, and support tools / systems)

·  Ability to review documentation and witness supplier practices to determine if sound manufacturing and inspection principles are in place (e.g., proper use of datum for fixturing, appropriate restraining conditions for inspection, etc.)

·  Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

·  Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

·  Demonstrated ability to lead and support multiple projects simultaneously

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams
