Role Summary/Purpose

The Composite Technician will manufacture composite components for the development of wind turbine blades. You will be responsible for collaborating within a project team responsible for creating innovative technology and manufacturing solutions that meet both production and business targets.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Composite Technician you will:

·  Have an understanding of composite materials and processes including surface preparation, infusions, hand laminating, bonding, lubricating and wiring 
·  Read and work from engineering drawings, work instructions, Standard operating procedures, and project charters 
·  Follow EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) standards for all chemicals, materials, and manufacturing processes including but not limited to PPE 
·  Ensure complete and accurate quality documentation that can be used in global knowledge management 
·  Operate forklift, overhead crane, ovens and other relevant industrial equipment 
·  Must use a variety of hand tools such as: grinders, sanders, files, dremels, drills, and saws 
·  Work safely with solvent materials within processes 
·  Repairing components as needed, with the use of various adhesives and resins 
·  Participates in continuous improvements and lean initiatives 
·  Work efficiently in a diverse team setting as well as a changing work environment 
·  Moves between project assignments that may require travel up to 20 days a year 
·  Communicate effectively to project leads, local leadership, and relevant global team 
·  Perform other duties as assigned or necessary 
Qualifications/Requirements

·  High school Diploma / GED  

Eligibility Requirements:

·  Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts 
·  Ability and willingness to lift up to 45 lbs. 
·  Ability and willingness to climb stairs or ladders to designated heights to perform work 
·  Ability and willingness to wear standard PPE, to include hard-hat, safety glasses, respirators, supplied air respirators, and hearing protection 
·  Ability and willingness to walk extended distances as needed 
·  Ability and willingness to work in areas exceeding 85 decibels with appropriate PPE

·  Ability and willingness to stand for 10-12 hours during a shift 
·  Ability and willingness to be exposed to chemicals, including but not limited to epoxy and styrene, with appropriate PPE 
·  Ability and willingness to learn to operate heavy machinery used in the manufacturing 
·  Ability and willingness to work in temperatures greater than 100 degrees F and/or less than 32 degrees F
