Role Summary/Purpose

The Bearing and Gearbox Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for product quality review associated with the manufacturing processes throughout the Supply Chain, monitoring assigned supplier quality performance, validating design specifications and source substantiation, new product introduction, process development and qualification of new suppliers and manufacturing processes for aircraft engine components.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Bearing and Gearbox Supplier Quality Engineer, you will:

·  Includes both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development

·  Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence

·  SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors

·  Develops new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations

·  Balances both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects

·  Works together with high level people from the business at SPB and EB level

·  Specifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done

·  Provides technical / commercial assistance to Commodity Buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge

·  Actively participate in supplier performance reviews

·  Advises Functional managers regarding projects, processes and procedures within their own field

·  Contributes to project as a team member or leads small projects
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Manufacturing)

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing (Including developed and strong foundation of functional skills and knowledge of relevant technologies)
Desired Characteristics

·  Significant knowledge of manufacturing and special processes related to gear / gearbox and/or bearing manufacturing

·  Background, experience, understanding of heat treating, coatings, inspection processes

·  Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

·  Strategic thinking skills that enable development of systematic changes across the supply base to improve quality

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams

·  Experienced problem solver with working knowledge of established quality tools (TOPS8D, Apollo)

·  Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

·  Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

·  Effective problem identification and solution skills

·  Proven analytical and organizational ability

·  Mentor and Provide training for others in your area(s) of expertise

·  Demonstrated ability to make good sound technical decisions

·  Ability to deliver technical presentations (written & oral) to peers and upper management
