Role Summary/Purpose

To perform component surface preparatory duties and apply primer, top coat and insulating ablative coating to various assembled structures. The quality of work and thickness of coating must be held to engineered specifications.
Essential Responsibilities

Works from Manufacturing Process Plans (MPP’s), drawings and/or sketches and verbal information to determine exact areas of product to be primed and painted, type and color of paint and/or other material to apply. Checks to insure that areas to be painted are cleaned, masked and ready for finish. Mixes paint per specifications and thins to obtain proper viscosity. Sets up, adjusts, and operates paint spraying equipment and drying ovens. Performs touchup work on the above when required.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Must be 18 years of age or older
- HS diploma / GED equivalent
·  Minimum of 2 years of experience
·  Ability to work from drawings and sketches. Requires technical knowledge of the characteristics of brush and spray painting, ablative materials and the ability to match colors.
·  Requires planning and performing a sequence of operations where standard methods are available to set up and operate spray equipment to apply finishes to close tolerances. Involves judgment in making decisions as to quality, application and correct location. 
·  Requires sustained physical demand in standing, stooping, and handling spray equipment and assemblies. 
·  Requires continuous mental or visual attention when painting or spraying to insure that quality of work and thickness of coating conforms with specifications.
- Requires exercising care to prevent some damage to painting equipment through improper handling or operation.
·  Must be able to work off shifts

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
