Role Summary/Purpose
GE Solar is a market leader in solar canopies and has been awarded several projects across the US to be built in 2019-2020. There is an immediate need for a full time, salary-based architectural drafter to join GE Solar’s dynamic canopy team. Work location can be remote but preferably in the New York City to facilitate collaboration with other team members, clients and project sites.
Essential Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you will need to assist GE Solar’s canopy design & engineering team in the execution of drawings and schematics for the construction of solar panel clad steel structures on parking lots and parking garages.
Our ideal candidate would have 3 or more years drafting in commercial construction. However, we would consider someone with other significant architectural drafting experience. Proficiency in producing construction documents using AutoCAD is essential. Candidates must have experience generating documents from design sketches through complete construction documents.
This is a position that requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and assist, to help complete projects in a timely fashion. Candidates only seeking qualifying hours under a licensed architect need not apply, however GE Solar actively encourages and supports professional development to suit individual needs.
Qualifications/Requirements
· 3+ years of experience in all phases of architectural projects
· Proficiency in AutoCAD
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel
· Strong technical background and creative skills
· Motivation and the ability to work independently
· Capability to determine and meet deadlines
· Excellent organizational and communication skills
· Ability to thrive in a team environment
· Ability to adapt to changes in our industry
Desired Characteristics
· Solar canopy experience
· Solar PV and/or steel building design experience
· Are proficient in Bluebeam
· Have experience in commercial construction
· Understand construction detailing
· Demonstrate ability to understand the general concepts of commercial architectural design
