Our Faurecia Automotive Seating Business Group – R&D Division is looking for a VIE Project Engineer m/f for its R&D CENTER in Auburn Hills, Michigan, United States.

The Project Engineer is responsible for complete and complex engineering projects. Their perimeter includes integration of all components and subsystems into a complete seat system. This role plans and executes complete development projects from initial design through production launch serialization and post launch support of automotive seating systems ensuring the highest design quality and customer satisfaction.
The main missions of the role are:
Formulates, recommends, and implements as phases of a project to complete it within budget and to meet customer determined project milestones and schedule target dates
Produces designs that are feasible and economical to produce in the manufacturing facilities and processes available
Supports achieving the Engineering budget ensuring its application, adherence and timely updates through the Engineering Manager
Provides alternative design solutions, analyses, justifications and recommendations at the concept stage, facilitates selection of designs that achieve best possible trade-off of cost, timing, innovation, and performance.
Ensures that product designs meet customer specifications / requirements through direct consultation with customer technical personnel
Contributes to manufacturing performance and customer service by assisting in the solution production or quality problems associates with the design.
Proposes, develops, and implements cost reduction ideas and initiatives
Ensures that Design Verification (DV) and Production Verification (PV) engineering and test plans are completed and approved by the customer at the appropriate time
Provides information about needs, wants and developments affecting company products and plans by maintaining regular, direct contact with customer technical personnel
Supports Sales team with technical data and customer presentation material as needed
Ensures that all Bill of Materials are built, released, and updated in PDM (Magellan) as required
Works with Program Team to understand and achieve Faurecia financial targets
Other duties and special projects assigned
The length of the VIE is 18 months.

The ideal candidate will have/be:
Master’s degree/Engineering diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Fluent in English
A first experience as a Project Engineer preferred.
Good problem solving skills focused on thorough problem definition, resolution and closure
Working knowledge of automotive specific engineering processes (Design to Cost, DFMEA, DFA/DFM, 8-D, 5-Phase, etc.)
Knowledge/exposure to seat mechanism design and engineering is a plus
Knowledge/exposure to foam, plastic, trim, wiring design and manufacturing is a plus
CAD skills and experience are preferred but not required
DFSS Green Belt Certification is preferred but not required
Good understanding of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) principles
Good oral and written communications and presentation skills
Good interpersonal skills
