Business Purpose / Background

EY’s move to a “Cloud-First” strategy has quickly led to a massive shift of application development and hosting to the major public clouds.  With this shift has come the challenge to operate and secure these environments, with efforts often being in “catch up” or reactive mode.  To address this, EY is building a world-class cloud operations team and is seeking to staff up rapidly with both internal and contract-to-hire resources.  While the roles needed are focused on a specific area (e.g. DBA, Network, etc.), resources are expected to be able to flex into different areas when needed.

Role Description Summary: 

SysAdmin role charted with maintaining and executing core infrastructure services to support cloud-hostes applications (AWS & Azure)

 

Responsibilities:  

·  Provide Windows operational system administration support for enterprise applications in high availability environment.

·  Assist with IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing debugging and implementation of applications programs in support of one or more functional areas.

·  Contribute to the technical design and implementation of system deployment automation and configuration management tools.

·  Analyzes installs and supports operating systems and utilities software.

·  Perform troubleshooting, resolutions and problem analysis.

·  Monitor alerting systems and servers.

·  Review issues logs and network capacity reports to identify trends and solutions that should be implemented enterprise-wide.
·  Maintain documentation of activities and system configuration. 
·  Assist with network disaster recovery initiatives.

Job Qualifications/Experience:

· 
Hands-on experience in all aspects of cloud computing (compute, CI/CD, containers, storage, Platforms-as-a-Services, data, networking and security)

· 
Experience in one or more automation languages (PowerShell, Python, Ruby, CLI) and one or more automation orchestration technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation templates, Azure Resource Manager Templates, Puppet, Ansible) is a must.

· 
Hands-on experience in Linux/Windows system administration and troubleshooting

· 
Knowledge in cloud monitoring tools, application performance monitoring tools, operational dash-boarding is desirable.

· 
Knowledge in networking and web standards such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, web security, switches, load balancers, firewalls is desirable.

· 
Knowledge of common application design patterns (e.g. MVP, three-tier), middleware and integration technologies (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, File Transfer, Messaging, API, etc.).

 

Desirable Skills:

·  Deep knowledge of at least one major public cloud, preferring certifications at the administrator or developer level.

· 
Automation of application and infrastructure delivery (CI/CD).

· 
Automation languages (PowerShell, Python, Ruby, CLI) and automation orchestration technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Puppet, Ansible)

· 
Building and managing containerized environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).

· 
Monitoring and alerting tools, both cloud-native, third-party and custom (CMP)

· 
System administration for Windows, Linux, and configuration management knowledge

· 
Autoscaling, load balancing, DR, SSO/Federation, AD/Azure AD is desirable.

· 
AWS Lambda or Azure Functions is nice to have.

· 
ITIL foundations knowledge or IT operations background
