The EY Legal Function is comprised of a Global Leadership Executive Layer, Region and Country General Counsels spanning across more than 50 countries, and a core team of experienced counsel who work to provide exceptional legal support to EY's service lines and business enablement functions. 

The Legal function provides advice and support to internal clients, is integrated globally, and is organized into three practice groups: Contracts, Transactions, and Litigation, with various sub-groups in each practice area.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team of legal professionals in the EY legal function. Gain experience in cutting edge employment and legal operations issues while working with people from across the world.

Your key responsibilities

The Paralegal/Legal Operations Associate will provide assistance in the areas of Employment Law and Legal Operations. The role will involve providing day to day assistance to the Employment and Legal Operations teams in order to help the lawyers operate with maximum efficiency. Focus will be on coordination, organization and technology. Specific responsibilities include:

· 
Supporting the development of global employment related policies, processes and change programs by coordinating and managing requests for employment law advice with local GCO teams across the global network of member firms and preparing reports of responses – ensuring responses are received, reviewed and any clarification requested to ensure that all questions have been addressed and any red flags are understood

· 
Coordinating cross-border employment law support with multiple local GCO teams in respect of global transactions (outsourcing, managed services) where deadlines are often tight, plus proof reading of transaction documents

· 
Supporting internal investigations – assisting with the collation and/or review of documents, taking meeting notes

· 
Providing support to the day to day running of the Global Employment Law Sub Practice Group, including managing contact lists, maintaining the intranet site, collating materials/facilitating information sharing, organizing group update emails/calls

· 
Providing support as required for spillover work being performed by the other Global GCO paralegal (based in the Transactions Practice Group)

· 
Serving as primary European point of contact for users of Passport (the Legal function's Enterprise Legal Managemet system) to provide faster response to questions and issues

· 
Supplementing the US-based Passport team with system maintenance, user stories, analysis and development, change requests, and testing

· 
Providing ongoing support to legal operations initiatives, e.g., updating/maintain various SharePoint sites, headcount tracking, talent management, updating guidance, outside counsel management, etc.      

Skills and attributes for success

· 
Strong personal communication skills, including oral/written communication, capable of dealing with wide range of people based around the globe

· 
Strong team player who is both committed and flexible

· 
Strong organisation, planning and project management skills

· 
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel in particular)

· 
Experience of, or an interest in, employment law

· 
The ability to keep calm in a crisis and to cope well with conflicting deadlines

· 
The ability to deal with problems in a practical and common sense way.

To qualify for the role you must have

· 
Law degree or non-law degree followed by GDL plus, ideally, LPC (or BPTC), or equivalent

· 
Experience of, or an interest in, employment law.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

· 
Previous experience as a paralegal and/or working in a global organization preferred but not essential

· 
Previous experience with technology offerings other than Microsoft Office.
