Your key responsibilities

As an Articling Student, you will be involved with all aspects of tax controversy management. You will:

·  Assist with providing advice to clients in responding to federal and provincial audits and on the tax dispute resolution process.
·  Draft, and assist in the preparation of, notices of objection and written representations to the federal and provincial tax appeals divisions; and assisting with the litigation of tax appeals before various courts.
·  Assist with the preparation of legal opinions with respect to the tax consequences of transactions, and with post-transaction audits for tax efficacy and litigation risk.

 

Skills and attributes for success

·  Strong verbal and written English communication skills
·  Superior academic credentials and excellent communication and research skills

 

To qualify for the role you must have  

·  Registered in the Lawyer Licensing Process with the Law Society
·  Completed a J.D or LL.B or received an N.C.A Certificate of Qualification

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

·  Demonstrated interest in Tax Litigation. Prior exposure is an asset.  
·  Excellent managerial, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
·  A high level of motivation, strong work ethic and self-starting attitude.
