Our research and development branch in Germany is regularly offering interesting master theses and internship projects. Together with our staff, you will have the opportunity to work on the exciting future of mobile applications and communications technologies. Our lab is part of a major Ericsson R&D center, located in close vicinity of the historic city of Aachen, Germany, in the heart of Europe.

During your time at Ericsson, you will be assigned to a research project, aligned with your individual interests, background, and skills. The duration of the internship is flexible, and we are looking for candidates that can start immediately or as soon as possible. These projects are usually assigned for three to twelve months. You will work together with experienced researchers, developers, and other students in a truly international team.

Location: Herzogenrath/Aachen

The Ericsson unit Technology & Industry, part of Portfolio & R&D in Business Area Digital Services, defines and executes activities to secure our technology leadership. These activities may vary from software development to system studies in the area of 5G networks, IoT networks, cloud networking, containers (Kubernetes), data management and state-of-the-art software technology topics.

As an intern (f/m), you will work on topics at the forefront of technology, developing prototypes and trying new concepts for cloud native applications, data storage and communication. The scope of the work will be adjusted according to your qualifications but will be related to the evaluation of distributed databases in a cloud environment, including some prototyping (designing and implementing some test clients) and performance evaluation (running the test clients). The development and testing environment will be a set of machines running Linux, so some experience in Linux network programming would be useful. You will need to report on the progress and results and should be able to analyze any unusual results that you might find.

You will be supervised by leading experts in the field. This will provide you with excellent insights into latest technology developments. Also, your stay with us can potentially be an important step towards a career within Ericsson.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  Enrolled as Master student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with an above average record of accomplishment
·  Strong interest in mobile communications or multimedia delivery, analytical thinking.
·  Eager to learn, self-driven and open-minded as well as very good team working skills
·  Very good computer and programming skills, e.g. C++, C, Java or Go (golang)
·  Fluent in English
