Accountant – Distributed Generation Projects


Purpose 
This position involves the general ledger ownership of several wholly owned subsidiaries of ENGIE North America’s Distributed Generation group for the development, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy assets sold to third parties and those built under common ownership. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day, month-end close, and financial reporting processes for all activity including: reconciliation of construction accounting, review of capitalized costs and long-term agreements, review accounts payable for construction projects, preparing customer invoicing, sales/use tax, reconciliation of capitalized payroll costs, and consolidation between special purpose vehicles/entities (SPV/SPEs).

Essential Job Functions  

·  Month end close of general ledger, including sub-ledgers for construction/maintenance, inventory, AR, and AP
·  Generate and distribute monthly profitability reports and analyze actual/budget variances
·  Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PMs)/Developers, regarding contract documents, change orders and other modifications, budget approvals, and other contract terms
·  Prepare various account reconcilements, as directed by the Accounting Manager
·  Set up and maintain new development/construction projects
·  Approve and review project AP invoices for accuracy and compliance with accounting policies
·  Provide year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconcilement
·  Recommend and implement agreed process improvement 
·  Prepare ad-hoc reports for the PMs and others

Requirements

·  Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion
·  Comprehensive understanding of general accounting topics
·  Employ problem-solving skills and analysis and report problems to the Accounting Manager, as necessary
·  Strong computer literacy, including experience in spreadsheets and accounting software
·  Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
·  Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
·  Could involve some lifting Education/Experience  

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business required 
·  3-5 years of prior experience
·  Previous public accounting experience is preferred
·  Certified Public Accountant is preferred
