Position Description:

With over 36 years in the industry, CGI Space is a rapidly growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Earth Observation, Satcoms and Spacecraft Operations domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Our Space business requires experienced on-site technical engineers to support the Galileo Key Management Facility Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in the development of Galileo, Europe's satellite navigation system being at the front line supporting our clients. This role is stationed on site periodically with our users and responsible for building good working relationships and ensuring issues are technically understood and being progressed efficiently in factory.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Technical investigations, analysis, trade-offs of solution options
• Technical rapid prototyping to solve issues on site
• Technical management of system build scripts and procedures and COTS deployment
• Technical management operation of upgrade deployment scripts and procedures (to update the operational systems)
• Technical Troubleshooting.

Qualification / Experience:
Essential Skills:
• Linux / Unix - configuration, software installation/build, shell scripting
• Quick learner Desirable Skills:
• Java / Web application development
• Cryptographic / Security experience.
• Subversion (svn).

Optional Skills
• Low-level networking concepts
• Windows Server
• Knowledge of Oracle/SQL
• Experience of working in a secure environment
• Knowledge of SCCF or other areas of Galileo

Other Information:
Staff will be based in the secure offices in Leatherhead for an initial a 3-4 month period for on boarding, before leave for Germany. The role needs to be at least one week in four on site in Oberpfaffenhofen, and can then either operate out of the CGI Darmstadt (DE) or Leatherhead (UK) offices. Security Clearance (SC) will be required so staff must be clearable to SC. Applications cannot be accepted where a European SC cannot be gained.

Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level, or a European Equivalent, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
