System Engineer (m/f) for our Space Division

Position Description
CGI is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of mission control systems for spacecraft and monitoring and control systems for groundstations. We are seeking talented junior and experienced engineers to further strengthen our team and help us deliver some of the most exciting control systems in Europe. Our team is based in Darmstadt, Germany.
With our global client base there are many opportunities for travel and for longer assignments both within Germany and overseas.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Work Description:

Our Spacecraft Control and Operations business unit in Darmstadt, Germany, are seeking to employ Systems Engineers that support and guide projects and services through the entire Systems Engineering lifecycle.

The tasks of this role will include:
• Management of interface control, requirements and design documentation in support of system evolutions,
• Preparation of technical documentation,
• Preparation of test plans and reports for verifying and validating the implementation of modifications to the existing system,
• Collaboration with the client, users, and subcontractors.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Experience and Knowledge:

The successful candidate should have experience working in either a systems engineering or operational environment and be confident interacting with customer stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Essential skills include:
• University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Physics or equivalent,
• Excellent problem solving capability,
• Willingness to take ownership of matters and to drive them forward,
• Familiarity with the Systems Engineering lifecycle and standard ways of documenting systems,
• Knowledge of requirements management and tools, preferably DOORS,
• Understanding of change control processes and their application at different project phases,
• Knowledge of UML/SYSML modelling and tools, e.g. Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, CORE,
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment,
• Passion for space and defining complex systems,
• Aspiration to learn and improve your skills and capabilities,
• Fluency in both written and verbal English.

Desired skills include:
• Experience working in the space industry in a Systems Engineering or similar capacity,
• Experience in the definition and operation of space mission ground systems,
• Knowledge of task-relevant ECSS and CCSDS standards.
