SUMMARY: Performs timely accurate laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials. Safely executes the lab duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Receives orders, obtains information, and gathers paperwork from Lab Supervisor(s) and/or Lab Manager(s) to perform required testing. Operates laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with methods and manufacturers instructions.

Ensures that all equipment is in good operating condition – calibrated, standardized, correct and clean. This includes all safety and test equipment and instrumentation appropriate to the job.

Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments, and prepares chemical solutions according to standard procedures.

Reports to job-site punctually and observes all Inspectorate applicable federal and state regulations and standards, and customer requirements, including applicable safety and measurement/test standards.

Represents Inspectorate by appearance and conduct. Behaves ethically at all times.

Communicates any problems, discrepancies, or other noteworthy incidents to the supervisor without delay.

As required, labels sample containers with full and correct identifying data.

Promptly performs analysis in accordance with accepted industry and company procedures, completes all required paperwork and distributes copies appropriately.

Normally works a rotating schedule including weekends, holidays and must be available to work on a 24hr on-call basis.

Supports and participates in Inspectorate’s Business Management System (BMS). Attends company meetings as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use and understand basic graphs and algebra.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.

Valid drivers license required.

Employee is sometimes required to climb and descend stairways and ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
