A network engineer in the Core Network Services (CNS) team needs to build a general knowledge about a wide variety of network technologies and protocols. Training and coaching will be foreseen to achieve this.
Your tasks will vary from day to day, including operations on different network environments and equipment, as well as studies and project driven implementations of new technologies.
Furthermore, a standby service is assured 24/7 in a weekly round robin fashion, giving right to an attractive remuneration supplement.
Next to general knowledge, each team member has the liberty to develop expertise in a specific area of interest.
Team work is key, as knowledge needs to be shared, and a good and informal work atmosphere is essential!
You have working knowledge in some of the following domains, and are willing to develop basic skills in the others:
• LAN & WAN architecture and administration on routers and switches like Cisco, Hp, …
• L2 Switching basics (ethernet, VLAN, trunking, xSTP, …)
• Dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, …)
• DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NTP services
• Web services & Web proxy
• Wireless networks
• IP load balancing, GSLB (e.g. F5, Netscaler)
• Voice over IP - QoS
• IP Firewalling (e.g. Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, …)
• Security topologies, and patch management (e.g. Algosec, Secunia, Qualys, …)
• Network authentication (Radius, LDAP, …)
• IPS systems, WAF (NGFW, Checkpoint, Cisco Firepower, F5, …)
• VmWare NSX, VXLAN
Network Tools & Automation
• Good knowledge of LINUX systems in general (CentOS Linux, xBSD, …)
• Network management tools (e.g. Icinga, PRTG, Observium, Netflow, …)
• Scripting languages ( Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python,…)
Structured copper and Fiber Cabling systems
• Basic notions
Degree: Master in ITC/Telecommunications/Electronics, specific network training (such as CCNA CCNP, CCIE), or equivalent by work experience
Experience: Junior/Medior. Familiar with complex & business critical network infrastructures, interaction with ITIL processes, project based working is a plus.
Profile: Junior/Medior in telecommunications, able to work autonomously and in an international team context.
Motivated to acquire new skills, and explore new technologies. Able to work under pressure, and willing to take responsibility for their domain.
Able to organize work in a structured manner, and to report according to basic project management principles. Customer oriented, with good problem resolution skills.
Professional proficiency in English and German is a must. Knowledge of three languages is a plus.
